PM Narendra Modi has reached Bangkok, the capital of Thailand on a two-day visit today on Thursday. During this PM Modi will meet Thailand’s Prime Minister Patongtarn Shinawatra and will participate in the sixth BIMSTEC summit. Leaders of Thailand Bangladesh Sri Lanka Nepal Myanmar and Bhutan will be present in this summit. PM Modi will also meet Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Myanmar’s military junta leader Min Aung Hlaing. After the BIMSTEC summit PM Modi will go on a state visit to Sri Lanka.
Indian community welcomed Modi
PM Modi was warmly welcomed by the Indian community after arriving in Bangkok. PM Modi will also meet Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida on Friday. After this Modi and Thailand’s Prime Minister Shinawatra will visit Wat Pho Temple which is one of the six major temples of Thailand. Apart from the huge statue of the reclining Buddha here innumerable statues of Buddha are also famous. This temple was also the first center of public education in Thailand.

PM Modi will hold important discussions in BIMSTEC conference
Prime Minister Modi will also attend the BIMSTEC summit on Friday. Bangkok Vision 2030 is likely to be accepted in this summit. According to the Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Thailand Aksiri Pintaruchi this time the summit will be based on the theme Active Resilient and Open BIMSTEC. The purpose of this document is to set the direction and goals for BIMSTEC cooperation and to promote regional cooperation to reduce the effects of climate change.

Seven countries associated with BIMSTEC
BIMSTEC i.e. Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation is an international organization connecting the countries of South Asia and Southeast Asia. It includes Bangladesh Bhutan India Nepal Sri Lanka Myanmar and Thailand. This organization is working for regional peace stability and economic development and is working towards increasing cooperation to deal with the effects of climate change.
