Former US President Donald Trump has banned citizens of 43 countries, including Pakistan, from entering the US. According to the New York Times, Pakistani citizens will no longer get US visas. Trump has imposed this ban on 43 countries, including 11 countries on the red list, 10 countries on the orange list and 22 countries on the yellow list. In this way, Trump has targeted these 43 countries for travel ban.
Trump administration’s new travel ban
A draft prepared by the Donald Trump administration lists three levels of countries whose citizens may be banned from entering the US. Under this new travel ban, the Trump administration is targeting citizens of those countries for whom travel restrictions will be more extensive than before. According to sources, this ban will be much stricter than the travel restrictions imposed by the Trump administration earlier.
Complete ban for Red List countries
According to the draft, 11 countries have been placed on the red list, whose citizens will be completely banned from entering the US. These countries are: Afghanistan, Bhutan, Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela and Yemen. Under the red list, citizens of these countries will not be allowed to enter the US.
Conditional entry for Orange List countries
There are 10 countries in the Orange List, for whose citizens the US visa process will be conditional. Only business and wealthy citizens of these countries will be allowed to enter the US, but no other types of visas will be issued. The countries included in the Orange List include Pakistan, Belarus, Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar, Russia, Sierra Leone, South Sudan and Turkmenistan. There will be a travel ban for citizens of these countries, but they can enter the US under certain conditions.
60 days time for yellow list countries
22 countries have been placed in the yellow list. Citizens of these countries will be allowed to travel to the US, provided these countries have to resolve the concerns of the US government within 60 days. The countries included in the yellow list include Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Chad, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Dominica, Equatorial Guinea, Gambia, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Sao Tome and Principe, Vanuatu and Zimbabwe. Citizens of these countries will be allowed to enter the US only after resolving US concerns.
Why the sanctions list was prepared
According to unnamed sources, the list was prepared by the State Department several weeks ago and then sent to the White House. The list is based on international security, terrorism, and compliance with US regulations for several countries. The draft is being reviewed by officials from US embassies and State Department regional offices, as well as security experts from other departments and intelligence agencies.
According to this proposal, a list of 10 countries has been prepared in which travel ban will be implemented, but citizens of these countries will be allowed entry under certain conditions. Under this, only rich and business class citizens will be allowed to travel to America, while other types of visas will not be issued.
The new travel ban imposed by the US on Pakistan and other countries has raised concerns globally. The Donald Trump administration’s move will make it difficult for citizens of these countries to enter the US, especially when business class will also be allowed under conditions. The move has been taken keeping in mind the US’ national security objectives, but will also have an impact on its international relations.
